Anne Hood Deal, 64, passed away in her home in Hubert, North Carolina on March 24, 2023. Daughter to the late William and Ellen Hood, Anne grew up in Raleigh and attended Needham Broughton High School, NC State University, and Peace College. Throughout her career, she held administrative and technical support positions at IBM, EDS, and the Town of Franklinton.
A vivacious green-eyed spirit, Anne loved soaking up the sunshine on the beach or by the pool. When not on the back of her husband’s Harley Davidson, she could be found riding her own Harley Softail. Often dressed in neon with her glasses held on by beads, she carried a colorful and sweet disposition everywhere she went.
Anne spent much of her time giving back to her community and put a particular focus on veterans’ rights. She was a member of Rolling Thunder Chapter 4 and a charter member of Chapter 7. During that time, she served as secretary for Chapter 7 and as president of American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 187. Fundraising and donating thousands of dollars, the impact she had was lasting for many.
She is survived by her husband Ret. MST Sergeant USAF, John David Deal Jr., 73; son David Neal Dickerson, 37; daughter Sarah Ellen Dickerson, 27; stepdaughters Rebecca Ann Deal, 43; and Amanda Deal Lenihan, 33; step-grandson Darin Nathan Mallard, 25; and great-granddaughter Raven Jade Mallard, 3.
