Sylvia Ann Crudup

Ecclesiastes 12:7- And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

Dr Sylvia Crudup 73, passed from this life into eternal life on Wednesday, June 6, 2022. Dr Crudup was born in Franklinton NC.  She was preceded in Death by her parents the late Wiley and Katherine Crudup and sister, Sarah Crudup-Perry. 

Dr Crudup was educated in the Franklin County School District.  She furthered her education at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in English; Master’s Degree in Counseling and Doctoral Degree in Occupational Education. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.  She was an Author of four books, recent books were “Lets’ Take Back Black Love” and “For Black Men Only.”    

Dr Crudup was well known for being a Motivational Speaker and Mentor to students.  During her career she was an English Educator, Guidance Counselor, Career Counselor, Educational Consultant for the NC Department of Public Instructions and an Adjunct Professor for North Carolina Central University, Hampton University and Norfolk State University. Dr Crudup also worked as an Assistant to the Press Secretary for Ken Gibson (first black Mayor of Newark, New Jersey).   

She leaves to cherish her memories, son Donza Cole of Suitland, Maryland; sister Lena Marie Johnson of Scotland Neck, NC; nephew Fred Johnson (Cheryl) of Creedmoor NC, nephew Jermaine Johnson of Scotland Neck, NC, nephew, Cordell Perry (Ashley) of Apex, NC, and a host of other relatives and friends.  

The family greatly appreciates all telephone calls, words of encouragement and prayers during their time of bereavement. At the request, of Dr Crudup there will be no viewing or service.
